“Eternal youth mandate”

When my mother said to me, "I’m too old to wear a two-piece swimsuit.", these words resonated in me in an unexpected way. I marked a time-out, this sentence seemed absurd.

How could my mother see herself as an aging person, deprived of the attention and recognition she deserves?

I see in her a strong woman with a beautiful body, like so many others. Her body has passed through the years, endured difficult times and celebrate the moments of happiness. Every wrinkle, every mark on the skin tells a story, testifying to life lived with resilience and strength. Beauty is not limited to youth. The body ages, but it remains beautiful. At any age, the body deserves to be celebrated, for it is the bearer of our joy and witness of our sorrows. It is our armor, our strength, the tool that allows us to move forward in every stage of our lives.

Yet, at any age, the body of women is often compared, shrunk down, looked down, when it should be honored for all that it has gone through and accomplished.
